Description of the Event: Join us for a webinar beginning on Aug 11, 2016 at 12:00 PM EDT. 

Come train with us to be a Master *Rain* Gardener. During class you will design your own rain garden step-by-step. Get our expert feedback on designing, digging and planting. Then, share your knowledge. Become your neighborhood's expert on rain gardens! 

Rain Gardens filter water so that our rivers run clean. The gardens capture and soak in the rain water that runs off hard surfaces like roofs and driveways – the #1 source of pollution in rivers. Anyone can plant one in their own yard! 

Five Thursday Webinar Classes 12:00 noon – 1:30pm: 
August 11
August 18
August 25
September 1
September 8
You must attend all 5 webinars, and build a rain garden to earn the Master Rain Gardener certification. 
Field trip August 14th (Ann Arbor), or 20th (Grand Rapids), or Flint or Rochester Hills to visit a rain garden (optional) 
Field trip Sunday August 28, 1:00pm to Wildtype Nursery in Mason, MI (optional) 

Hosted by Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner's Office, Michigan: 
Susan Bryan, Rain Garden Coordinator. Susan has designed over 80 residential rain gardens, and mentored over 350 homeowners planting rain gardens. She is a past President of Wild Ones, has a Master of Landscape Architecture from University of Michigan, and is a Master Gardener. 

Harry Sheehan, Deputy Water Resources Commissioner. Harry is responsible for planning and financing ongoing education efforts, and spearheading innovative projects. 

Shannan Gibb-Randall, Principal at InSite Design Studio, Inc. Shannan leads InSite Design's ecologically sensitive landscape design work. Her background is in Art History and Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. Projects in her portfolio include the City of Ann Arbor Municipal Center, the Great Lakes Garden at Matthaei Botanical Gardens, and the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center Courtyard.
