Name of Event: 29th Annual Ann Arbor Garden Walk
Sponsoring Organization: Ann Arbor Farm and Garden
Date: June 8, 2019
Start Time: 10 am
End Time: 4 pm
Location : Six gardens across Ann Arbor (see ticket for details)
Description of the Event: Every garden tells a story, and the six private gardens featured on the 2019 Ann Arbor Garden Walk speak of history, hard work, and lessons learned.
Ranging in size from four acres to city lots, these landscapes have been shaped over decades by their owners and boast beautiful perennial and native plantings, mature trees, and fruits and vegetables. The gardens illustrate sustainability, recycling and upcycling, and methods to reduce maintenance. Ponds, waterfalls, and fountains add to the ambience of several gardens, and a ‘chasm’ at one serves as a rain garden to capture and filter water. Natural stone hardscaping, creative outbuildings, and unique, personal art make each garden a delight at every turn.
In three of this year’s gardens, local artists and vendors will offer a tempting variety of perennial plants, unique garden art, and handcrafted merchandise. A portion of Marketplace sales are donated to the event proceeds.
Proceeds from the annual Garden Walk benefit local nonprofit horticultural and environmental organizations and projects, such as school and community gardens, natural area restoration initiatives, and beautification projects.
