The steelhead is one of Michigan’s premier gamefish, providing fishing opportunities for river, pier, surf, and boat anglers in a wide variety of waters around the state. Sea Grant is hosting this fishery workshop to provide a variety of perspectives on steelhead biology in both Great Lakes and river environments. There will also be some time for discussion of steelhead harvest limits. For those who have not attended a fishery workshop before, these events offer a great opportunity to interact with scientists and fishery managers. In addition to taking a deep dive into existing data, we also discuss emerging management issues and areas for future research. We will even tell you how you can contribute to addressing research gaps by volunteering to collect data on stocked and wild steelhead. Agenda available online.
