The 2022 Kalamazoo Bee School will feature expertise and insights for bee-ginners through intermediate beekeepers. Meghan Milbrath, Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, will give a keynote address on "Drawn Comb is Gold: Production & Care of Drawn Comb." Ana Heck, MSU Apiculture Extension Educator, prepared a video on apiary site selection. There will be a swarm of other presentations, including a keynote speech from Dr. Tom Seeley on the Bee Colony as a Honey Factory, a presentation from Mike Connor on supporting pollinators in our area, and several 15-minute sessions addressing beginning beekeeping questions.
Registration is free via Eventbrite; there is a suggested donation of $25 for the entire day. The Kalamazoo Bee Club supports beekeepers through free monthly meetings, free hands-on Apiary Days (when conditions allow), a free monthly newsletter, and a helpful ever-changing social media presence.
