Michigan State University (MSU) Extension will co-host the Michigan Beekeepers’ Association’s Spring Conference, which will be held in Lansing on March 12th, 2022. There will also be virtual sessions the evenings of February 24th, March 3rd, and March10th leading up to the in-person event. People interested in learning more about beekeeping, honey bees, hive products, and pollinator habitat are welcome to attend.
The Michigan Beekeepers’ Association has served Michigan beekeepers for 157 years, and it supports over 30 local beekeeping clubs in Michigan.
The in-person conference will feature a keynote presentation on "Regional Self Sufficiency in the Ontario Beekeeping Community" by Paul Kelly from the University of Guelph. It will also include 4 tracks:
Beginning Beekeeping - a great place to learn (or relearn!) the basics
Queen Rearing and Panel Discussions - queen rearing and panel discussions on migratory beekeeping and pollinator habitat installations
What's New - designing bee presentations for schools, small hive beetles, and more!
A Deeper Look - varroa mites, European Foulbrood, turning your beekeeping hobby into a business, and beekeeper history
