Learn from seasoned beekeepers in the West Michigan area!

The Holland Area Beekeepers Association will hold a Bee School on Saturday, February 11th.

Dr. Zachary Huang, Associate Professor in the Michigan State University Department of Entomology, will present on Hive Inspections & Record Keeping.

The Bee School will include 2 keynote presentations and elective breakout sessions geared for beginner and intermediate beekeepers are offered throughout the day. The topics to choose from include the following:

  • What beekeeping equipment you need

  • How and when to purchasing bees

  • How to conduct a hive inspections

  • Learn about bee biology

  • Learn about honey bee pests, diseases & treatments

  • Learn how to create new colonies and manage swarms

  • Learn about pollination, pollinator habit and the importance of honey bees in pollination

Also, throughout the day, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of seasoned beekeepers, visit vendor booths to shop for bee equipment, reserve bees for spring, and shop for beekeeping books and craft products of the hive.
