MMGA Welcomes New Board Members,
Sue Aagaard Re-elected to Board of Directors
The MMGA has welcomed four new members to the board of directors. Linda Andriacchi joined the board early in the year to fill an opening. In June, Marilyn George, Vicky Hicks and Norm Scherr were elected and Sue Aagaard was re-elected to the board and we bid adieu to board member Cathy Myers, who chose not to run for a second term. Here’s a brief introduction to each of our new members:
Linda Andriacchi represents master gardeners in the Upper Peninsula. A native of Marquette, Linda now lives in Ishpeming. She is an avid master gardener with a specialization in garden design. A self-described plant collector who often breaks the rules and buys just one plant, Linda can be found out of the garden at the law offices of her husband and son where she is the office manager and legal secretary. She is also the chair of the Ishpeming Beautification Committee which is responsible for many gardens throughout the city of Ishpeming.
Marilyn George comes to the board with a diverse group of skills including accounting and finance, special events, education, management, marketing, community relations, public relations, communications, strategic planning and research. She is retired after a long career with the IRS where she honed her people skills first as an auditor and then as a manager. She lives in Southeast Michigan.
Vicky Hicks owns her own landscaping business and is certified by the Michigan Nursery Landscape Association and has passed their test to be a Certified Green Industry Professional. Before opening her own business Vicky worked for IBM as a Resolution/Complaint manager with Fortune 500 companies. She’s also taught computer classes. Vicky lives and works in Southeast Michigan.
Norm Scherr of Ann Arbor is an electrical engineer with and MBA and over 35 years experience in high tech entities. He’s also a devoted gardener and volunteers with Matthaei Botanical Garden. He also sits on the board of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 333 where he is board secretary.
Sue Aagaard begins her second term on the board. Prior to joining the MMGA board two years ago, she served on the communications committee, where she continues to be a regular contributor to the newsletter and also helps with the website as needed.
Welcome to our new members and welcome back Sue!
