MGANM presents "Herbs: Propagation, Culinary, and Medicinal Uses" with guest speaker Julie Krist of Herbal Renewal of Omena on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:30pm. With decades of experience to share, Julie will discuss the ins and outs of growing herbs along with ideas on cooking with herbs. Join us for this fun and flavorful topic on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:30pm at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Rd. Refreshments are served at 6:00pm followed by the program.
Julie Krist has a long time love for cooking and gardening. She cofounded Herbal Renewal where she served as President for several years and currently is co-program chairperson. She has been active in MGANM and in 2009 received volunteer of the year award for Leelanau County. She continues to be a member of Michigan Herb Associates and volunteers as a docent at the Botanical Garden in the Historic Barns Park.
Herbal Renewal is a Leelanau County organization of women interested in growing and using herbs. One of their volunteer projects is maintaining the garden across the road from the Omena public beach.
The mission of the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan (MGANM) is to further the horticultural educational activities of MSU Extension and provide horticultural knowledge and experience to members, enabling them to share this knowledge with others through hardening projects, educational programs, and activities. Meetings are open to the public. A $5 donation from non-members is appreciated. Attendance earns credits toward Master Gardener volunteer and educational hours.
