Step back in time to the old growth forest of the midwest with Dr. Deborah Marr as your guide. These forests are a rarity in the Michiana region, some containing trees more than 200 years old and over 4 feet in diameter. Dr. Marr will share her recent research conducted at Bendix Woods Nature Preserve, where over 20,000 old growth trees have been surveyed since the 1960s. The data collected through these studies reveals how forests change over time, the effects of climate change, and the dynamic and stable characteristics of these ancient forests.
